Position Summary: 

Nu Deco Ensemble seeks an organized, highly motivated Programs Coordinator to assist in the growth of the ensemble’s education program Nu Deco Imagination and the day-to-day operations for the ensemble’s main season.

Made in Miami, Nu Deco Ensemble is a virtuosic and eclectic chamber orchestra designed for the 21st Century, co-founded by conductor Jacomo Bairos and composer Sam Hyken. Nu Deco Ensemble focuses on performing works by living composers, creating cutting-edge collaborations with special guests, and re-arranging works by innovative artists. The core 30-piece ensemble includes a string section; wind and brass; a full rhythm section consisting of both acoustic (percussion, piano) as well as electronic instruments (electric bass, electric guitar, drum machines and keyboards).

As a young startup non-profit organization, every member of the team is vital to the execution of Nu Deco Ensemble’s programming. The Programs Coordinator will report directly to the Director of External Relations (DER) and C.E.O, and will coordinate Nu Deco Ensemble’s education initiatives as well as assist the DER in the organizations concert operations, development, and marketing. The ideal candidate will be highly efficient, have an acute attention to detail, showcase good judgement, time management, and be willing to help to get the job done. The candidate must also be dependable, hardworking, well-organized and resourceful. Job duties will include the following, plus other duties as assigned:

Education:

  • Schedule school-time performances with venues 

  • Coordinate with the school board VPA department to invite students

  • Coordinate busing either via school board or directly with busing companies

  • Work with artistic directors to create programs

  • Be the on site rep for all education initiatives

  • Identify with Director of External Relations our in-school performance partners for the year

  • Organize and serve as liaison for the Nu Deco Youth Orchestra, working with the artistic team, master teachers, parents and students

Concert and day-to-day Operations:

  • Serve as point of contact with management for hospitality riders, hotel/flight/ground logistics, and arrival

  • Run the box office for all events

  • Maintain office supplies and assist in orders

  • Serve as first point of contact for phone calls

  • Assist librarian in binding of scores and parts

  • Keep track of day-to-day expenses and create reports for CFO and Finance Office

  • Coordinate host housing for visiting musicians

Development:

  • Manage Nu Deco Ensemble’s donor database

  • Assist Director of External Relations in identifying individual prospects, foundations, and corporate supporters

  • Send acknowledgement letters on a weekly basis

  • Pull reports from various systems for grants

  • Implement e-communications for donors and general public

  • Assist with special events preparation, planning and execution

Marketing:

  • Support the development and execution of collateral material for major organizational and programmatic initiatives

  • Collaboratively manage and coordinate creation and update of web content

  • Create and edit materials in Photoshop and InDesign

  • Disseminate final marketing materials to the appropriate advertising houses

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music (or other related degree)

  • 1-2 years of experience

  • Interest and understanding of classical music

  • Experience in database management, knowledge of Salesforce systems preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • An eye for design and some design experience a plus, especially with Photoshop or InDesign

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent administrative abilities

  • Flexible, highly motivated, and able to work successfully with colleagues, donors, musicians and volunteers

  • A fast learner who is able to prioritize their workload and meet deadlines
