Nu Deco is heading in to create the most eclectic, versatile and exciting orchestral album, featuring genre-bending musical explorations, some of our favorite guest collaborators & living composers we champion! Accompanied by Kishi Bashi (who is also our producer!) Danay Saurez, Spam All Stars, Project Trio, and many more, this project is three years in the making. Join us on this journey and be a a part of our "Nu" chapter!

Who We Are

When Jacomo and I met in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra 15 years ago, we were both Juilliard trained brass players who had dreams beyond our orchestral positions. We quickly became best friends and roommates, and would talk endlessly about not only the future of classical music, but also how to engage with audiences to create the most exciting live performances. What we didn't know at the time is that we were building the groundwork for the creation of an "orchestra of the future", Nu Deco Ensemble

The mission of Nu Deco Ensemble is to create transformative and compelling genre-bending musical experiences that enrich, inspire, and connect new and diverse audiences and artists. This virtuosic and flexible chamber orchestra combines the finest conservatory classically trained artists, with some of Miami's best and most creative contemporary musicians. Since our inaugural concert in April of 2015, we have grown exponentially, ever expanding our deep network of collaborators, fans, and supporters.  Acting as an access point for those who may have never heard a live orchestral performance, as well as introducing seasoned orchestral patrons to music that normally would not grace a classical music stage, we seek to redefine the orchestra in the 21st century, and how it interacts with the community around it.  We honor the music of Stevie Wonder, OutKast, and Daft Punk with the same artistic intention as we honor Bach, Bernstein, Gershwin, Stravinsky and Shostakovich.  We collaborate with artists of all musical genres and mediums, with the goals of elevating all we work with.  We value musical education and community building, having performed free concerts for over 10,000 students and are in the process of creating our very own youth orchestra. Great music, whether written 200 hundred years ago and debuted at the music halls of Vienna or debuted on Spotify last month, deserves to be heard and elevated by the greatest vehicle for expression, the modern American orchestra.

What We Are Doing

Since our time in Singapore, our careers have taken us to work with top orchestras around the world, Grammy award winning artists, and other unique projects (Jacomo as a conductor and myself as a composer/producer). We have been spreading the word of Nu Deco throughout the country, but we are now in need of recordings to share our music with those outside our home in Miami. Now we feel is the time to expand our mission beyond Miami’s borders, and create an album which represents who we are musically and sonically. This album will support our mission of cultivating an orchestra that is relevant, speaks to society today, while also looking toward the future of creating an ensemble that has no boundaries in artistry and scope.

Our goal is to re-define the model of an orchestral album for the 21st-century. Our album will feature today’s most exciting living composers, orchestral explorations of the music of Daft Punk, Kraftwerk, and OutKast, as well as collaborations with some of our favorite collaborators such as Danay Suarez, Project Trio, Andy Akiho, Kishi Bashi, and more! While we will always aim for diversity, artistry and inclusion, this album will be the strongest representation of our true identity. And with Kishi’s Bashi’s help as our producer, we are aiming to create an incredible sonic experience for the most critical audiophile.

How YOU Can Get Involved

In order to make this dream a reality, Nu Deco needs your help! Our goal is to raise $50,000 which would help cover the salary costs of our musicians and the space rental at the HIT Factory. Additional funds raised past the goal will help with other costs related to this project and to the creation and pressing of our CD/vinyl records.

You can help support this project in a couple of unique ways! First, you can help spread the word about our album to your friends, family, and networks across the country. The more eyes we get on this platform, the closer we get to our goal!

Second, you can donate to the project. Donations made through this platform come with some unique perks including the CD, Vinyl, Digital Recordings, and more exclusive content!

Third, you can join us in the studio! Purchase your day/week passes to join us in the studio or booth at the HIT Factory during our recording in June. You will get to see firsthand the process of putting this album together, hear the comments from the producer’s booth, and see the magic come alive! Passes are limited so purchase yours soon to lock in your spot. More information on the date/schedule is listed below in the “Where/When” section!
